This week was full of new stuff and announcements in search. Google did a lot of things to update and improve their algorithm which you should definitely know to do a good SEO and marketing job in the future.
- Google rewards HTTPS/SSL websites with better rankings. As I guess all of us already supposed Google announced to give secure websites sort of a ranking boost. But although be very careful: As Google said it will only affect 1% of searches yet, so the danger to crash your site because of redirection issues or drop your positions with other violations is pretty high.
- Author stats have been removed from Google Webmaster Tools quietly. This week Google did their next step in reducing authorship benefits with removing the author stats resource from Webmaster Tools. So from now on no webmaster will see all of his marked up posts and contents and their performance in search results anymore.
- The Google News Publisher Center has been released. It allows you to verify your website for appearing in Google News and to edit your details if you’re already in it. If you follow the News guidelines, provide time-related informational content and make it “accessible to users” you should check out the new dashboard to get Google News benefits for your website.
So let’s see how all these new stuff will change and improve search experience and see you next week! Feel free to share!
